A time to plant

Today is the first day of September. Around here it's time to get winter wheat into the ground. Then hope for rain.
Without fail you'll always have a low or flat tire on the drill. You can bet money you'll find at least one rat's nest and a wasp nest or two. And from experience, you'd better have your fifty foot spray can full of wasp killer because they will hunt you down!

Looking out from the hill, you can't help but think about fall being just around the corner.
Here is the reason Ken plants and takes good care of his animals.
Ken has a special, KC mixture, he uses to plant. It's not all wheat.
Filling the drill.
My side kick Moxy. See how white her teeth are Tanner?
Each field has a name. We started in "Dead Mesquite" field.
The once beautiful maize field has been stripped and eaten by all the wildlife. Ken has decided to cut the maize down and prepare the field for planting with wheat.
This is "sweat lodge" field. It too earned its name.
Planting in the dust is normal this time of year. Pray for rain.
Looks like the buffalo will have to move over for the planting to take place.
His mixture of seeds.
The maize is bye bye.. It's just stalks now anyway.
I think his "tractor's sexy".
The tip top of Tarbone Mountain. Taken from the house.
Tarbone Mountain...
Come on RAIN..........
