Fun with Rylee

Every now and again a hummingbird will get caught in our garage and we won't realize it until later. Well this is what happened to this little guy we named Lucky. Not sure how long he'd been trapped, but he was worn out. I picked him up and and outside he went. Rylee put him on the edge of the feeder and he began to drink and drink. He let her pet his little body and after about thirty minute he flew away.

What a special moment....:)

We've taught Moxy a trick to balance a treat on her nose and wait until given the okay. Rylee learned it as well..:)

Hey Uncle Tanner and Aunt Aly, Rylee has a toothbrush that lights up when she brushes her teeth. Then the light goes off after so long of brushing. Figured you two would like hearing that being a dentist and hygienist...:) Very good idea!!

We went to the Rattlesnake Festival on Saturday and this was what Rylee wanted to win.. But didn't:(

After the festival we went to a pond and had a picinic and did some fishing. What fun we had!!!!

Talking turkey

As most of you know I'm not much of a hunter. But every now and again I'll go turkey hunting with my #1 guide of 28 years..:) He gets more excited than I do.

As we left the house, this morning it was still dark. When we got settled beneath a tree, we could hear the owls hoot, the coyotes howl from afar and then the turkeys would gobble. Just across the draw where they were roosted, there was a lot of gobbling and yelping. There was also quite a bit of that from my hunting partner beside me. The sunrise was once again amazing to see.
We'd hear the hens do the hen talk, then the boys would GOBBLE.. I'd think..I think I feel a tick crawling on me. Be sure to close my left eye before shooting. My foot is asleep. My nose itches. Then all of a sudden out walked the hens. I knew the gobbler wouldn't be far behind because he was gobbling just out of sight. Then, I could see his bright red neck and blue head coming right at us. Ken said he'd tell me when to shoot.. My thought was; left eye closed...KABOOM!!! Funny thing when I close that left eye I hit 'em every time. LOL :)

Ken said it was one of the biggest gobblers he had ever seen taken on Tarbone Ranch. Spurs were 1 1/4", beard measured 10 1/2" and he weighed 24 pounds. We love wild turkeys in every way, not least of which is on the table.

Ken was a happy camper when he found the other side of stickers. What a nice buck he was last year... Now to see what he grows this year....:)

My weekend in Tulsa

Ken's brother Keith was here at the beginning of the week and spent a few days with us . Ken had broken his gun stock years ago and Keith decided to make him another one... Well to say the least he made an amazing gun stock with his unique hand carved rattlesnake design on the stock. What a beautiful piece he has now..Almost too pretty to shoot.

I left Friday to Tulsa to spend the weekend with Hunter and Marti. We had such a fun time. We spent Saturday shopping and antiquing.

Of course I couldn't leave my side-kick behind. Moxy was with me. She loves playing with Kimber.

Marti made waffles for breakfast...Yum what a treat!!

Moxy played so hard.. and she was sure she didn't want Kimber to have the ball last so she fell asleep with it in her mouth.. Silly dog!! :)

M&K had been digging a hole to China while we were gone, so Hunter gave them both a bath after we got home. Marti is cleaning up wet dog from the floor. Thanks Hunter for giving her a bath...:)
