Cow elk hunt

Shon used a gun he built from a very old Ballard falling block single shot buffalo rifle  in .45-110 caliber.
Shon and Bruce shared the hunt and in spite of spitting rain, had a successful cow elk harvest. One shot kill.
Shon is an accomplished gunsmith. He MADE this .45/70 from scratch. Each piece, he built from raw steel in his shop, Eychaner Gun Works in St. Joseph, MO.
He cut the walnut tree from his farm in MO and built the beautiful stock .
This is his old Ballard action which is temporarily covered with camo. He plans to engrave the receiver after the hunt.
Mid-October and the fun is starting to happen. First chase of the year.
Here's a big "Thank You" to Jim and Kyle who brought their families for a visit to Tarbone Ranch after picking up their elk venison. Bruce, Shon, Tammy and I met them for a Meersburger in a celebration of the elk harvest they all shared.
